Hello!
I have over 30 years of childcare experience – both of my own children (I have five girls aged 15 to 30!) – and in professional settings. I worked at Save the Children for 15 years, then moved to education as a Teaching Assistant, doing one to one and group work for another 15 years. I completed my Early Years Foundation degree at Greenwich University.
My Educational Philosophy
As a childminder, I aim to nurture children’s independence and build their confidence in a warm, family-centred home-from-home setting. I have a dedicated room for the children to play and learn in, and a garden for outdoor activities. We can enjoy being outside in all weathers as the garden includes some covered space.
At home, the children I care for benefit from lots of focussed, one-to-one attention, and I promote their development by choosing activities that link to their age and developmental stage. I also take the little ones on lots of small adventures throughout the day: we go to libraries, playgroups, parks, shops, and the market. We are lucky to have lots of playgroups and story and singing sessions in the local area and I make the most of these, taking the children to them so they can socialise and enjoy a wide range of toys, stimulating activities and books. l also provide before and after school care, picking up and dropping off children from schools and nurseries.
